Liverpool 1-2, but Shenendehowa wins at McQuaid By Mary Albl of DyeStat ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The Shenendebowa girls scored 44 points, overcoming a 1-2 finish by Liverpool, to win the Seeded AAA team title Saturday at the McQuaid Invitational at Genesse Valley Park. McQuaid is annually one of the largest meets in the U.S. RESULTS Sophomore Jenna Schulz ran 17:08.4 on the 3-mile course and Liverpool teammate Madison Neuner (17:21.2) was second. But Shen put three in the top six, led by Hannah Reale (17:32.7 for third), to win the girls title. In the boys AAA race, Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake won with 78 points. St. Xavier of Ohio was second (117). The top individual finisher was senior Silas Derfel of Ithaca, who ran 14:40.4 and beat runner-up Shea Weilbaker of Saratoga Springs NY by eight seconds. In the boys AA race, Xavier of New York scored 62 points to win the team title. Thomas Witkowicz of All Saints Catholic in Ontario, Canada., clocked 14:33.9 for the fasest time of the day. Ian Russ of East Aurora NY ran 14:46.7 for second place. In the boys A race, Elk County Catholic PA won the team title with 85 points. All five of the team's scorers placed in the top 25. Michael Peppy of Maple Grove NY won the race in 15:19.4. The girls AA race saw East Aurora NY score 87 points to win the team crown, while Magnificat of Ohio was second (134). Faith DeMars of Ballston Spa won the race in a time of 17:38.7. In the girls A race, Maple Grove NY dominated as a team by scoring 60 points with three finishers in the top 10. Runner-up Waterloo scored 142 points. Individually, Brook Rauber of Tully NY clocked 16:52.4, well ahead of second-place finisher Hayleigh Palotti of Livonia NY (17:39).
